Kasie Hunt announced the "bittersweet" news that she was leaving NBC News and MSNBC during a broadcast on Friday.
The "Way Too Early" show host and NBC Capitol Hill correspondent told viewers she has enjoyed providing news, and also connecting with those who have shared pictures of babies and pets over the past year.
"I'll have more on my adventure coming up in the next weeks but for now I just want to thank everyone at NBC News, at MNSBC," Hunt said.
Hunt also posted the news to her Twitter page and said, "Some personal news, as they say — thank you to all of the viewers, reporters, lawmakers and everyone else who’s gotten up extra early to help make ?@WayTooEarly? better. I loved doing this show. More soon! #WayTooEarly."

A representative for NBC Universal confirmed to USA TODAY she was leaving the network.
Hunt first joined NBC News as an off-air reporter and producer covering Congress and politics in 2013. In 2017, she began anchoring her own segment on MSNBC, "Kasie DC," which aired on Sundays.
In September, she announced that she going to begin anchoring the reboot of the "Way Too Early" show, under its new name "Way Too Early with Kasie Hunt."

"I’ll really miss our amazing viewers @KasieDC on Sunday nights — and I will especially miss working with a fantastic team that has put in so much work on weekends to put on a show that we could all be so proud of," she tweeted.
On Friday, MSNBC's "Morning Joe" show played a segment revisiting Hunt's work over the last eight years.
"This show has been a family for me at NBC," Hunt said fighting back tears. "I'm so sad to be leaving this family, but I'm also really excited about what's coming next."
She didn't immediately reveal details of her next job.
"You have taught me to know my value and so now is just the right time for me to take a leap and embark on a new big adventure," Hunt said to "Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski.
