Kate Hudson, now mom of 3, welcomes her 1st girl, with Danny Fujikawa

Kate Hudson‘s brood just got a little bigger.

The Almost Famous actress gave birth to her first child with musician Danny Fujikawa, whom she began dating in December 2016, after having been friends with him for years.

“She’s here,” Hudson captioned an Instagram post on Wednesday announcing her daughter, Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa, was born the day before, on Oct. 2. “We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawa. Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly,” she explained in the post. “To name her after him is an honor. Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”

Hudson is already mom to Ryder, 14, her son with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and Bingham, 7, the son she has with former fiancé Matt Bellamy.

Being the mom of two boys, Hudson was thrilled to discover that she was expecting a girl. She confirmed her pregnancy and the baby’s gender at the same time in April, with a single Instagram post.

“My whole life has been boys. I have three brothers, I have two sons, I have two nephews, and one beautiful little niece,” Hudson told New York magazine’sThe Cut in May. “It’s really been me and Mommy [Goldie Hawn] with a whole bunch of boys. Mom and I were at the SAG Awards, and I made a joke: ‘We need to recruit more women into our house.’ I’m excited about the balance. I was excited for my boys as I am for my girl, but at least now, if I have another baby, it really won’t matter what the gender is at all. At least I have one girl!”

Hudson spoke in June about her hopes that the new baby will grow up knowing anything is possible for her future, at least when it comes to balancing a family and a career.

“I liked growing up with a working mom,” the Oscar winner and Fabletics founder told People. “It allowed me to be able to see that you can work and be a very present and effective mother.”

“My only hope for my kids is that they feel loved,” Hudson added. “They are always prioritized.”
