Kate Middleton and bearded Prince William congratulate Great Britain’s Olympians in rare video from home
Kate Middleton and Prince William have shared a rare video message from home following the end of the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
The Prince and Princess of Wales shared a pre-recorded video message from home to congratulate Great Britain’s athletes on their success.
“From all of us watching at home, congratulations to Team GB,” Middleton, 42, said in the clip posted to the couple’s X and Instagram accounts Sunday.
“Well done on all you’ve achieved. You’ve been an inspiration to us all,” the future king chimed in.
The mom of three looked happy as she stood next to her husband, who sported a beard in the clip.
Princess Catherine sported a striped black-and-white shirt, which was similar to the one she wore when she revealed her cancer diagnosis to the world in March.
She let her brunette locks flow straight with a subtle side part.
William, for his part, ditched his usual clean-shaven appearance and instead rocked stubble as well as a blue Adidas polo that featured the Olympics logo.
“Well done @teamgb, what an incredible journey!” the caption read. “Every athlete showed immense dedication, heart and passion. You made us all so proud!
“Here’s to celebrating every triumph at @paris2024 and looking forward to more from @paralympicsgb_official later in the summer
.”
The video also featured special messages from Snoop Dogg and David Beckham.
Team GB ended in the 7th spot on the medals table, with a total of 14 gold medals, 22 silver medals and 29 bronze medals.
While the Waleses did not attend the Olympics in Paris, their absence did not come as a surprise after it was revealed that she would be taking some time from the public eye to focus on her cancer treatment.
Following her shocking cancer announcement, the princess wrote in a letter that she was “making good progress” but had “good days and bad days” while going through chemotherapy.
The following day, Middleton joined the royal family for King Charles’ birthday celebrations on the Buckingham Palace balcony at the Trooping the Colour ceremony.
Last month, she attended the Wimbledon tennis championships, which is reportedly her last public outing for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, William and the pair’s eldest son, Prince George, traveled to Berlin, Germany to attend the EURO 2024 final as England took on Spain in the soccer match-up.
