Kate Middleton Receives Standing Ovation at Rare Public Appearance Amid Cancer Treatment
Kate Middleton made a rare public appearance this weekend as she stepped out to attend one of her favorite events amid her ongoing battle with cancer.
Catherine, Princess of Wales, 42, was spotted at Wimbledon with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, 9, on Sunday, July 14. She arrived just in time to watch the men’s singles final, which saw Novak Djokovic take on defending Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz.
The princess received a standing ovation from Centre Court spectators and appeared to be in good spirits upon her arrival. She wore a purple dress for the annual tennis tournament, an elegant look that contrasted the Kelly green dress she wore at Wimbledon in 2023.

Sunday’s outing was a rare one for the mother of three, who has mostly stayed out of the public eye this year. Concerns over the princess’ health began in early 2024 when Kensington Palace announced that she was to undergo a planned abdominal surgery in mid-January.
When Kate wasn’t seen for weeks after her hospital stay, royal watchers began fearing that something serious was going on. Obvious edits to a photo that the palace released on Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom further fueled online speculation.
Near the end of March, the palace released a video that Kate had recorded in which she explained that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Though she did not specify which type of cancer was found, she said her medical team identified it after her surgery in January. The princess had already started a preventative chemotherapy treatment by the time of her March 22 video message.
Last month, Kate made her first public appearance in months as she attended Trooping the Colour on June 15. She rode alongside her children in a carriage and later stood on the balcony while surrounded by her family at Buckingham Palace, smiling and waving to the crowd as they all celebrated the annual event.
