Kate Winslet favored subdued elegance for the New York City red carpet premiere of her new film “Lee” on Wednesday. The Oscar-winning actress wore a look by the same designer she chose for the premiere of the film in London on Sept. 3.

For the New York City premiere, Winslet opted for an ornately designed, beaded look courtesy of Jenny Packham’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The actress wore a jet-black top embellished with bugle beads, worn with high-waisted, wide-legged satin trousers.

Winslet’s blouse featured a high neckline and a combination of glittering silver and black beads. She also wore glittering silver earrings. During the red carpet premiere, Winslet posed for photos alongside costars Andy Samberg and Andrea Riseborough and director Ellen Kuras.

“I am always thrilled to dress Kate, one of the world’s most iconic movie stars who represents such incomparable talent and continuous positivity for women,” Packham said in a statement to WWD.

Packham took inspiration from rock ‘n’ roll’s glamorous era, particularly references to Elvis Presley and David Bowie, for her pre-fall 2024 collection. “She worked her signature power shoulders, slinky shapes and love of shimmer into this collection, which had a bohemian edge with paisley patterns, jewel tones and draped bell sleeves for dramatic flourish,” WWD’s Samantha Conti said of the collection in her review.

Winslet’s look was curated by stylist Cheryl Konteh. The actress previously wore another design by the British fashion designer. For the London premiere of “Lee,” Winslet wore a floor-length dress with a plunging neckline and floral beaded designs on the bodice.

Packham is a favorite designer for Kate Middleton. The Princess of Wales regularly wears gowns by the noted British designer. In May, a controversial portrait of Kate, unveiled by Tatler, depicted the royal in a Jenny Packham look she wore to King Charles III’s first state banquet held at Buckingham Palace in November 2022.

Packham launched her label in 1988 and has grown the brand since. Known for her glittering gowns and feminine silhouettes, Packham’s designs have recently been worn by the likes of Emily Blunt, Drew Barrymore and Adele, among others.

“Lee” follows the story of former model turned photographer Lee Miller during World War II. Miller is credited for capturing some of the most harrowing images of the war, many depicting the impact the global conflict had on women and children. The film hits theaters Friday.
