Katherine Schwarzenegger’s Adorable Twinning Photo of Her Daughters Sparks Backlash for a Frustrating Reason
Katherine Schwarzenegger is a proud mama to her daughters Lyla, 4, and Eloise, 2, with husband Chris Pratt, and she shared the cutest new twinning photo of the girls. And while this is a perfectly normal thing for moms to do, some people think she shouldn’t have shared the picture at all — and the backlash is so frustrating.
“The sweetest moments ??,” Schwarzenegger captioned the photo on Instagram. The girls look identical in matching color block blue dresses, complete with matching white sandals. Even their dark brown, curly hair looks similar, half tied up on top of their heads. The girls are hugging each other, clearly best friends! But commenters had a problem with one thing: both of their faces were turned toward the wall.

“The sweetest moments are your children, staring at the wall?” one person commented. Someone else wrote, “Do you instruct them to turn away from the camera? I get not wanting to show a kids face but it begs the question why show them at all?”
So now a mom can’t post a picture of her kids without showing their faces? It’s not your right to see a celebrity’s child’s face (or any child’s face!), so shaming a mom for wanting to post about her kids because their faces are covered is just ridiculous. If she didn’t share photos of her kids at all people would be asking why she’s hiding them, so it’s just another example of how moms can never seem to win.
Other people were just straight up mean to Schwarzenegger. “Weird photo. I know you don’t post your girls faces but this photo is just unnecessary.” Another rude person wrote, “Stop posting these photos if you think they’re too important to show their faces. They’re really not all that. Nobody cares.” Yet, you still took the time to comment … kinda weird for someone who “doesn’t care.”
Luckily, other people saw this for what it is: a cute photo of kids. “They are sooooo cute ??” one person wrote, while another said, “So cute ?? Love their outfits ??”
The best-selling author, who is currently pregnant with her and Pratt’s third child, has said in the past that she had a “normal” upbringing, despite being the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver.
“I think that one of the greatest gifts that my parents ever gave me and my siblings is the gift of privacy and having a really normal upbringing, or as normal of an upbringing as possible,” she told TODAY in 2021. “We were allowed to be our own people and have our own identity and kind of choose to step into whatever form of being public we wanted to when we felt comfortable. And I think that was such an incredible gift to have given us kids.”
She added, “It’s something that’s really important to my husband and I to give to our kids and to be able to have that privacy, and not necessarily show much of them on social media.”
