In Agatha All Along, which picks up where WandaVision left off, a teen breaks Agatha free from a distorted spell. After the mysterious teen and Agatha embark on a journey to the legendary Witches’ Road, Agatha reunites with her coterie of witches. The cast includes Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Joe Locke (Heartstopper), Patti LuPone (American Horror Story), Maria Dizzia (The Good Nurse), and Sasheer Zamata (I Feel Pretty).
WandaVision‘s Debra Jo Rupp (That ’70s Show), Emma Caulfield Ford (Fear the Walking Dead), Brian Brightman (The Hate U Give), and Kate Forbes (The Longest Ride) will also star in the spinoff. In WandaVision, viewers meet Hahn disguised as Agnes, a neighbor to Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen). By the season’s end, viewers learn of Agatha’s sorcerer identity and Maximoff entraps Agatha as her Westview persona Agnes.
Agatha All Along, which Jac Schaeffer (WandaVision) wrote and produced, underwent several name changes: It was first titled Agatha: House of Harkness, then Agatha: Coven of Chaos in July 2022, and changed again in 2023 to Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. Hahn spoke to Rolling Stone in 2021 about starring in WandaVision and the parallels the series draws from the Marvel comic book character Agatha Harkness.
“I just love the idea of a dangerous woman,” Hahn told Rolling Stone. “The word ‘witch’ has such a connotation. Just historically speaking, it’s been a way to categorize or shut up a woman that is loud or unexplainable or complicated or dangerous or messy, or whatever it is. Agatha is an ancient and very, very powerful witch. She can be a mentor and be an antagonist, and be 100 years old and still look kind of fabulous!”
The first two episodes premiere Sept. 18 on Disney+.
