Kathy Bates Is ‘Not the Matlock You’re Expecting’ in New CBS Trailer
Madeline “Matty” Matlock is “not the Matlock you’re expecting,” teases a brand-new trailer for CBS’ Kathy Bates-led legal drama debuting this month.
“Inspired by” the classic, Andy Griffith TV series of the same name, Matlock stars Emmy and Academy Award winner Bates as the aforementioned septuagenarian, who achieved success in her younger years and decides to rejoin the work force at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases.

As sampled in the new trailer above, Matty is able to fly under the radar as she gleans all kinds of useful information, including a lawsuit settlement figure yapped into the phone by a lawyer at a coffee shop.
She’s also able to convince a convict that she is a feeble, older relative, so that she and her associates can speak to him.

Earning herself a spot at the aforementioned law firm, Matty is assigned to Olympia (Good Sam‘s Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and rainmaker with a thirst for justice. Olympia’s ex-husband and the son of the head of the firm, Julian (Parenthood‘s Jason Ritter), meanwhile is intrigued by Matty and her skills. As Matty endeavors to establish herself in this high-stakes world, she works alongside the firm’s younger associates, Billy (David Del Rio) and Sarah (Leah Lewis).
