After Gucci's severed heads, Kathy Griffin brands herself a trendsetter for Trump stunt
Kathy Griffin took quite a hit for that Trump beheading photo shoot, but — nearly a year later — she can laugh about it.
The comedian, 57, posted a photo from Gucci’s runway show in Milan last month — a memorable catwalk session because it featured models carrying what looked like their severed heads. Griffin, who was investigated by the Secret Service for her anti-Trump pictorial, was a fan of Gucci’s gambit, jokingly calling herself the “muse” of the campaign and describing her stunt as “ahead of my time.”

Last month, the fashion house generated loads of attention at Milan Fashion Week because designer Alessandro Michele accessorized models with replicas of their own heads for their march down the runway. The theme of the collection was “cyborgs,” and Gucci had the Rome-based visual effects company Makinarium make the noggins.
Of course, Griffin found herself in major hot water last May after posing with a severed replica of the newly minted President Trump’s head in a photo shoot with Tyler Shields. But it certainly wasn’t in fashion. She got death threats. She lost work. She was investigated by the government. She was trolled by Trump supporters. She lost friends. (We’re looking at you, Anderson Cooper.) She even cried her eyes out during a press conference.
However, by the end of the summer, she had changed her tune, saying on the Australian show Sunrise, “I am no longer sorry, the whole outrage was B.S., the whole thing got so blown out of proportion.” In November, during an interview on the BBC’s HARDtalk, she said, “I take the apology back 1,000 percent.”
