Katy Perry Busts a Move With Dance Contest Winner in Behind-the-Scenes ‘Swish Swish’ Video: Premiere
Katy Perry released the star-studded “Swish Swish” video in August, in which she leads a ragtag team of klutzy basketball players to victory against seemingly insurmountable odds. On Tuesday (Oct. 17), the pop star shared behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot, which maintains Perry’s penchant for hilarious, visually striking music videos and features one lucky contest winner who got to participate in the insanity.
Back in July, Perry teamed up with DanceOn to launch the #SwishSwishChallenge, exhorting dancers to show their best moves for a chance to star in the video. Hip-hop and jazz-funk aficionado Amanda LaCount snatched the crown and the behind-the-scenes footage shows her chatting with Perry, who gushes, “You’re such a unique personality and so positive. I love that!”

The Nicki Minaj-assisted Witness single accomplishes this by mixing nonsensical basketball maneuvers with a lively flash mob in the bleachers, featuring Molly Shannon, Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo and Game of Thrones’ Haftór Júlíus “Thor” Bj?rnsson (better known as “The Mountain”).
“The video’s concept was to take basketball and be as absurd as possible with it, kind of in The Naked Gun spirit, but mixed with Katy and all her sort of high-concept, humorous videos,” director Dave Meyers says in the clip. “We just threw every possible thought that came to mind in a mixing pot and here we are shooting it.”
