Katy Perry Does Power Dressing in Sparkling Balenciaga Blazer for ‘American Idol’

Katy Perry fashioned another designer look for Monday night’s episode of “American Idol.” The season 22 episode featured the top eight contestants performing songs secretly selected by judges Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie.

For the episode, Perry wore the double-breasted rhinestone embellished blazer from Balenciaga. The look featured a structured fit, with a defined waist and two pockets. The fabric was covered in glittering rhinestones, which played off the ornate choker and statement earrings Perry wore for her jewelry accessories.

The monochrome look also featured pantaleggings, which Perry wore with pointed-toe heels. The “Teenage Dream” singer’s makeup was done by Michael Anthony, while her hair was styled by Jesus Guerrero. Perry’s look was curated by stylist Tatiana Waterford, who’s been collaborating with Perry for more than three years.

Perry’s “American Idol” looks have featured a number of high-fashion pieces. For the April 21 episode of the reality competition series, Perry fashioned a piece from Coperni’s pre-fall 2024 collection. The strapless dress featured a rich blue tweed, woven with several shades of metallic blue thread. The look also featured large rounded side cutouts along the waistline.

While Perry’s high-fashion looks have been memorable and unique, one almost dealt Perry a wardrobe malfunction. During the April 15 episode of “American Idol,” Perry wore a custom Kate Barton look, which featured a futuristic silver bra top. Although the bra top stayed in place while Perry posed for promotional images, the taping of the episode presented a challenge.

While filming, Perry’s top came undone behind her back. The singer found herself holding the piece as the show went on. Footage from the episode, which Perry shared to her Instagram account, featured the star nearly hiding under the judge’s table while providing feedback. “My top broke,” the singer captioned her Instagram post.
