Katy Perry, Orlando Bloom end sober 'pact': 'Doing it together makes it so much easier'
Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom have ended their sobriety "pact" after three months.
The couple had a joint sobriety journey as an "opportunity to reset" and "a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit," the "Daisies" singer told People on June 21. The pact started after President's Day in late February.
"I've had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance," Perry told the outlet, noting that at the time she was "not really drinking" on weeknights but would "indulge a little bit" on the weekends.
Perry said the idea came about while Bloom started filming a movie in London so she wanted to be "supportive" as he focused on his role.
"It's really hard to do anything, whether that's doing a cleanse or a reset, unless your partner's doing it. So, doing it together makes it so much easier," she added.
Despite their pact to quit drinking, Perry said she doesn't "really identify with any labels as far as sober or whatever."
Perry, who shares 2-year-old daughter Daisy Dove with Bloom, owns the brand De Soi, which is described as a "nonalcoholic apéritif" with natural botanicals and adaptogens, to aid in moments when she isn't drinking alcohol.

Though a sober scale may be defined differently by everyone, there is no question that these products are popular.
"People are looking for options that aren't going to have the damaging effects of alcohol but still allow them to sit back, relax, have a beverage that is considered sophisticated or more adult-like than a soda or sparkling water," Hilary Sheinbaum, author of "The Dry Challenge: How to Lose the Booze for Dry January, Sober October, and Any Other Alcohol-Free Month," previously told USA TODAY. "It allows people to congregate and be social without the added pressure of imbibing."

In addition to an increase in nonalcoholic versions of beer, wine and cocktails, a new category of alcohol alternative drinks like Cann, which describes itself as a lightly carbonated "social tonic" infused with CBD and THC, is gaining popularity.
"This market has been booming," Sheinbaum added. "Younger generations are really driving this change... They still want to socialize, they still want to have fun, they still want to feel like they are part of the experience – it's only going to go up from here."
Health has also become more top of mind.
Dana Amaya, a registered dietitian at Lenox Hill Hospital, increasingly sees consumers choosing alcohol alternative drinks over alcoholic beverages due to "mounting health and wellness concerns.
