Katy Perry Shared a Special Message for Daughter Daisy at the VMAs & It’s Such a Mom Move
While Katy Perry was serving fantastic looks, performing a medley of hits from her decades-long career, and accepting the Video Vanguard Award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards last night, her daughter was top-of-mind. The “Teenage Dream” singer shared a special message to her daughter Daisy Dove, 4, who she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom, and it’s such a mom move.
In a pre-show red carpet interview on Sept. 11, the Most Iconic Performance Award winner revealed that her daughter was watching MTV “for the very first time,” per PEOPLE. (Talk about an under-celebrated milestone!) Then she gave a message for her little girl: “Don’t say up too late, sweetheart. Eat your broccoli,” Perry instructed. Leave it to a mom to be thinking about bedtimes and broccoli at an awards show!

Later, the “Roar” singer opened up about motherhood has changed her. “I feel good. I’ve had my daughter and it’s changed my whole life,” she said. “I feel a sense of wholeness and more grounded. I’m writing songs from a place of feeling truly empowered. Feeling truly connected to my feminine divine. It’s changed my life for the better.”
The Pirates of the Caribbean star was also thinking about his little girl. As he helped introduce Perry for the Video Vanguard Award, he praised her motherhood skills. “You fell in love with her as Katy Perry, I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson,” he said per E! News, referring to her birth name. “You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light and her unique sense of humor into every song she writes and every music video she creates.”
“I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same sense of love and joy to our family,” he added. “She loves with her whole heart and it’s kind of irresistible. Congratulations on this honor baby, I’m so proud of you.” (Are you crying yet?!)
During her heartfelt speech, Perry also thanked Bloom and her daughter, calling Daisy “the only flower I’ll ever need.”
The love this trio has for each other is so heart-warming!
