Keegan-Michael Key and Cynthia Blaise Finalize Divorce Days Before He Announces Engagement
Keegan-Michael Key and Cynthia Blaise’s divorce has been finalized, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
The former couple wed Dec. 27, 1998 and agreed to a separation date of Nov. 15, 2015, according to the documents, filed and orderd Nov. 7 in L.A. Superior Court.
In the judgement, the Key and Peele star has been ordered to pay Blaise, an actress and dialect coach, $34,000 per month as well as 21 percent “of his gross annual income from all sources in excess of $2,153,846,” according to the documents, but “the total spousal support payable from [Key] to [Blaise] each year shall not exceed the sum of $700,00 gross.”
According to the documents, Key, who filed for divorce on Dec. 31, 2015, is obligated to pay Blaise spousal support “until the first of the following: the death of either party, [Blaise’s] remarriage, or further Court order.”
Key, 46, has also been ordered to pay Blaise $655,649 “to equalize the division of the assets”; she is also keeping the pair’s timeshare and the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. They share no children.
News of his divorce finalization, which was first reported by TMZ, comes just days after Key announced his engagement to Hollywood producer and director Elisa Pugliese.

Key and Pugliese have kept their romance largely out of the public eye, though the two have attended events together, including the U.S. Open this year and the Rescue Dinner hosted by IRC in New York City earlier this month. The duo also stepped out during 2017 Emmys weekend, as well as this year’s Tony Awards and BAFTA Tea Party event.
