Kelly Ripa says goodbye to daughter Lola as she heads to college
Kelly Ripa’s home just got a little quieter as she dropped off her daughter, Lola, at college.
The sweet goodbye took place on Sunday and a mother-daughter hug and kiss was captured by Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos. “2 down... 1 to go...” the Riverdale actor captioned the photo of their middle kid, 18, reaching the milestone.
Ripa, 48, posted the same photo, writing, “The nest is getting roomy.........” with two pink heart emojis.
Lola — who we saw attend prom and graduate, thanks to social media — is a freshman at New York University, around the corner from her parents’ NYC pad.
Friends of Ripa and Consuelos were touched by the sweet goodbye — though several — including Anderson Cooper and Sarah Michelle Gellar — also offered to move in.
Just prior to dropping off Lola at college, Ripa shared this throwback of the girl’s christening. She noted that Consuelos was “sobbing” over Lola leaving home.
Ripa shared on Live with Kelly and Ryan as she took Lola on her college tour. After visiting Tulane in New Orleans last year, Ripa joked that her m.o. was to not hype any school — especially if she liked it — because that would make the teen dislike it. “I cannot show any excitement,” Ripa said, quipping, “I’ve already said too much!”
Ripa and Consuelos married in 1996 after falling in love as co-stars on All My Children. They are also parents to Michael, 22, who also attended NYU, and Joaquin, 16. The whole family was featured in People’s Most Beautiful issue earlier this year.
