Kelsey Grammer's daughter Spencer stabbed in altercation, says she expects to recover quickly
"Rick and Morty" actress Spencer Grammer was stabbed but expects to recover quickly after attempting to help quell an altercation Friday night in New York City.
The New York Police Department confirmed to USA TODAY that a "36-year-old female victim and a 32-year-old male attempted to break up a dispute" Friday night around 11:30 between a man with an "unidentified sharp instrument" and other restaurant patrons outside of The Black Ant restaurant in Manhattan.
Grammer, the 36-year-old daughter of actor Kelsey Grammer and actress Doreen Alderman, and her friend were among the other diners who stepped in to help.
In a statement to USA TODAY, Spencer Grammer said she "sustained a laceration on my arm" while her friend "was stabbed in the back, but thankfully he suffered no serious internal injuries." The NYPD confirmed that "victims were transported to NYC Health & Hospitals/Bellevue and treated for non-life threatening lacerations."
“My friend and I did what anyone else would do in the same situation," Grammer said. "Several others, predominantly women, were also attempting to prevent the altercation from escalating."
"We expect to recover quickly," the actress added, thanking first responders and Bellevue Hospital staff, "who provided us with excellent care. They fought an incredible battle this year. It was very moving for us to have the opportunity to thank them in person."
Grammer is best known for lending her voice as Summer Smith in Adult Swim's animated series "Rick and Morty" since 2013 and starring as sorority girl Casey Cartwright in ABC Family's "Greek" from 2007 to 2011.
