Kerry Washington Reunites With ‘Scandal’ Co-Stars In Solidarity For The SAG-AFTRA Strike
The strike initiated by the SAG-AFTRA has bred both solidarity and a surprise TGIT reunion.
In an Instagram post, Kerry Washington shared several snapshots of her reuniting with Scandal co-stars Tony Goldwyn and Bellamy Young as they were making signs for a protest surrounding the current SAG-AFTRA strike.
Volunteered with some fellow @sagaftra members that I LOVE today,” Washington captioned an image of her holding a picket sign that read, “Guild vs. Evil.” Among one of the images Washington shared depicted Goldwyn holding a sign saying, ”What is Creativity Worth”.
Washington portrayed the lead role of fixer Olivia Pope on Shonda Rhimes’ ABC political thriller Scandal for seven seasons from 2012 to 2018. For her portrayal of Pope, Washington was twice nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. On Scandal, Goldwyn portrayed the role of Fitzgerald Grant III, the President of the United States who is engaged in an extramarital affair with Pope. Young portrayed Grant’s wife Mellie, who soon becomes the President of the United States herself.
In an Instagram post, Washington also posted ways fans can show their support for the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“If you want to get involved, there are soooooo many ways to support this labor strike. Help spread our message, volunteer, donate what you can donate to the Emergency Financial Assistance Program, and more! I’ll link to all in my stories. Any bit helps! We’re in this together,’ Washington said.
