Kesha Gets Emotional While Discussing Ongoing Legal Battle With Dr. Luke

Kesha broke down in tears while talking to Viceland about her music career. In the interview with the music show Noisey, the 29-year-old singer opened up about her ongoing legal battles.

In 2014, Kesha sued her longtime producer, Dr. Luke, for alleged sexual and emotional abuse. He denied all the accusations and filed a countersuit for defamation.

She said, “I worked my ass off for a lot of years to be able to do it. Like I’d sing backup vocals and the first couple of songs I was on, I didn’t get credit but I didn’t give a f*** because I just, like, had this, like, one vision. So once you earn that and, like, make that happen, then to have it taken away from you is pretty devastating. It’s definitely a mind f***.”

Meanwhile, Kesha is pouring her heart into creating new music for her fans. This time, she’s taking a whole new direction.

“I’ve always loved country music and listened to it a lot growing up, so now I’m, like, kind of allowing myself to just tap into my musical roots a little bit more recently. Here it really is the utmost importance to tell a story, and I feel like that’s really what Nashville songwriting is about. The song is the most important thing.”
