Kevin Costner Makes Rare Public Appearance With Five Children at Cannes
Kevin Costner attended the premiere of his upcoming film, Horizon: An American Saga at the Cannes Film Festival over the weekend; the first two parts of the Western epic are both set to be theatrically released this summer. And helping him ring in the premiere of the film, which he directed, co-wrote, produced, and stars in, were five out of his seven children.
The 69-year-old was joined by Cayden Wyatt Costner, 17, Annie Costner, 40, Grace Avery Costner, 13, Hayes Costner, 15, and Lily Costner, 37 on the red carpet. He shares daughters Annie and Grace with his first wife, college sweetheart Cindy Silva, who he was married to from 1978 to 1994, as well as a son, Joe, 36, who was not in attendance.
The younger of his three children who accompanied him Costner shares with his wife of nearly 20 years, Christine Baumgartner, who finalized their divorce earlier this year after an acrimonious split in 2023. He has one other son, 26-year-old Liam, with his ex-girlfriend Bridget Rooney, who likewise didn't make the premiere.
Costner and his two sons in attendance went black tie for the premiere, while his three daughters stunned in sleek gowns.
The following day, Costner's five children were likewise at his side when he received the prestigious Order of Arts and Letters from the Minister of Culture, which recognizes significant contributions to the arts and literature.
For the event, Costner and his brood traded their formal attire, with their famous dad wearing an all-white suit with an open collar and his sons in casual blue and white looks. Meanwhile, his daughters dressed in linen while his youngest wore a matching blue and white dress.
The new film has been a labor of love for Costner, which he first commissioned as a standalone film in 1988. Horizon: An American Saga—Chapter 1 will premiere in the United States on June 28, 2024, while Chapter 2 will be released on August 16, 2024.
