Kevin Costner Reunites with ‘Bull Durham’ Co-Star Susan Sarandon 36 Years Later
Kevin Costner reunited with his Bull Durham co-star Susan Sarandon 36 years after the classic sports comedy hit theaters. Costner and Sarandon came together at Italy’s 81st Venice International Film Festival to benefit the Better World Fund Gala, which aims to "raise awareness and funds to promote humanitarian action and sustainable development worldwide."
Following their get together, Costner posted a sweet photo of himself and Sarandon cozied up on a green room couch. “There’s nothing like catching up with an old friend,” Costner captioned the post. “Great to see you @susansarandon—we’ve come a long way since our Bull Durham days. I’m proud to have taken part in the @better_world_fund initiatives alongside Susan here at the #VeniceFilmFestival.”
Sarandon also posted a carousel of three photos showing her and Costner’s time together at the festival. “Such a honor [sic] to receive an award from this great organization @better_world_fund,” Sarandon captioned the post. “And a double treat to spend time with the other honoree and my dear friend, @kevincostner,” she said, adding that she can’t wait to see the festival’s Sept. 8 premiere of Costner’s passion project, Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 2.
Bull Durham starred Costner as veteran baseball catcher Crash Davis, who finds himself entangled in a love triangle with avid baseball fan Annie Savoy (Sarandon) and Nuke LasLoosh (Tim Robbins), a newcomer to the sport. The film was a massive success, grossing over $50 million on a budget of $10 million and earning a nomination for Best Original Screenplay, which it lost to Rain Man.
Bull Durham is streaming for free on Tubi and Pluto TV.
