Kevin Williamson Netflix Drama Series ‘The Waterfront’ Adds Nine to Cast, Marcos Siega to Direct
Kevin Williamson’s upcoming Netflix drama series “The Waterfront” is rounding out its cast.
Variety has learned that Melissa Benoist (“Supergirl,” “The Girls on the Bus”), Jake Weary (“Oh, Canada,” “How to Blow Up a Pipeline”), Rafael L. Silva (“9-1-1: Lone Star,” “Madam Secretary”), Humberly González (“Ginny & Georgia,” “Star Wars Outlaws”), Danielle Campbell (“Tell Me a Story,” “The Originals”), and Brady Hepner (“The Holdovers,” “The Blackphone”) have all been cast as series regulars.

Additionally, Michael Gaston (“Daredevil: Born Again,” “Leftovers”) and Gerardo Celasco (“The Devil in Ohio,” “Next”) will appear as recurring guest stars, while Zach Roerig (“Vampire Diaries,” “Dare Me”) will guest star.

Finally, Marcos Siega has joined the series to direct the first two episodes. He will serve as an executive producer on the pilot.
“The Waterfront” is currently filming. The new cast members join previously announced series leads Holt McCallany and Maria Bello.
The official logline states, “Inspired by true events, ‘The Waterfront’ dives into the flawed Buckley family as their attempts to retain control of their crumbling North Carolina fishing empire drive them to increasingly dangerous means to keep themselves afloat.”
Netflix has commissioned eight episodes. Williamson is the writer of “The Waterfront,” with both he and Ben Fast executive producing under their Outerbanks Entertainment banner. Universal Television is the studio, with Outerbanks currently under an overall deal at UTV.
Character Descriptions:
Jake Weary as Cane Buckley: As Harlan Buckley’s only son, Cane has a complicated relationship with his father but never stops trying to do the right thing by his dad and can’t seem to say no to him. Married to Peyton and the father of a young daughter, Cane likes the money his family business affords him, a Band-Aid for the life he got instead of the life he wanted.
Melissa Benoist as Bree Buckley: The intelligent and hot-tempered Buckley who formerly oversaw the fishery’s finances and, like her father, has allowed alcohol to ruin her bright future. After losing custody of her son, Bree struggles to maintain a relationship with him while maintaining her sobriety.
Rafael L. Silva as Shawn Wilson: Newly employed bartender for the Buckleys, Shawn is intrigued by the family and carries a secret that could upend the family forever.
Humberly González as Jenna Tate: A journalist who leaves the city to return to Beaufort to tend to her ailing father. Returning to her hometown, she is confronted with past relationships, including her high school sweetheart, Cane Buckley, who still holds a flame for her.
Danielle Campbell as Peyton Buckley: A proper Southern woman, Peyton is built to sparkle. The wife of Cane Buckley, and mother of an 8-year-old, she loves Cane and understands his complex relationship with his dad.
Brady Hepner as Diller Hopkins: Bree’s son who now lives with her ex-husband, Diller is a resentful teenager, a product of having an alcoholic mother. Although Bree is looking to mend their relationship, Diller treats her with hostility and turns to his grandfather Harlan who he idolizes.
