Key and Peele Bring Back Obama’s Anger Translator One Last Time
Keegan-Michael Key stopped by The Daily Show Thursday night for the first time since election night. The Key & Peele star told Trevor Noah that following the election, he and Jordan Peele got an email from one of the executive producers of their show who had written one more Obama/Luther sketch. And much to everyone’s delight, Keegan shared that final sketch right then and there.
For those who don’t know, the series of popular sketches features Jordan as President Obama and Keegan as Luther, Obama’s anger translator. In the final sketch, Obama was being his usual calm, collected self, while Luther was pretty upset about Donald Trump winning the election. Obama said, “It’s more imperative than ever that we move on as a country united,” and Luther quickly chimed in, saying, “United in the fact that we can’t stand each other,” as he stormed across the room.
Toward the end of the sketch, even Obama got a little angry when he said, “It’s been real, it’s been good… but it ain’t been real good,” to which Luther added, “Apparently, orange is the new black!”
The Daily Show airs weeknights at 11 p.m. on Comedy Central.
