The Kannada film KGF Chapter 1 is the first installment of the KGF franchise, released on December 21, 2018. The film received critical acclaim from audiences and became the highest-grossing Kannada film at that time. Directed by Prashanth Neel, KGF Chapter 1 was produced under the Hombale Films banner. The film stars Yash as Raja Krishnappa Bairya, aka Rocky, and Srinidhi Shetty as Reena Desai in the lead roles. The supporting cast includes Ramchandra Raju, Vasishta N. Simha, Achyuth Kumar, Archana Jois, Anant Nag, and others.

The film centers around KGF (Kolar Gold Field), an actual location in the Kolar district, Karnataka, India, although the depicted story is fictional. Meanwhile, control of KGF falls into the wrong hands despite Suryavardhan being its owner. Before his demise, Suryavardhan designated his son Garuda as the heir to his throne and tasked Adheera with guarding him.

On the other hand, the narrative introduces Raja Krishnappa Bairya, also known as Rocky, who emerges as a mafia don owing to his capabilities. In his childhood days, Rocky loses his mother due to financial struggles, and before her passing, she extracts a promise from him that he will amass wealth before his demise.

Following his mother’s death, ten-year-old Rocky relocates to Bombay and becomes employed by Shetty, a prominent gold smuggler. Over time, Rocky’s influence grows as he oversees the smuggling of African gold bars to the Bombay coast. Witnessing Rocky’s ascent, Andrews proposes granting him control of Bombay in exchange for eliminating Garuda, a significant figure in KGF.

KGF Chapter 1 Ending: Did Rocky Kill Garuda?

Rocky heads to Bangalore to execute his plans, where he meets and falls in love with Desai’s daughter, Reena. On statue inauguration day, Rockysmuggles a pistol into the party office to assassinate Garuda with the help of Desai, Andrews, Kamal, and Daya. However, their attempt is foiled when Garuda’s bodyguards spot them. After this failure, Rocky realizes that he needs a new plan. So he embarks on his journey to KGF by killing one of Garuda’s henchmen units to enter. Rocky disguises himself as one of the workers who were forcibly kidnapped to enter the KGF world.

Rocky secretly accesses the mine’s map in the maintenance room, leading to the death of his fellow worker. After this tragic incident, Andrews, Kamal, and Desai are misinformed about the incident and assume that Rocky is killed. Soon, Rocky emerges as a messiah in the enslaved people’s eyes, especially after an incident where Rocky kills twenty-three guards to save a blind worker.

In the first installment’s ending, Garuda organizes a Maa Kaali pooja and plans to kill his father’s allies. Moreover, he decides to behead three workers as offerings to the goddess Kaali during pooja. But the Vanaram discovers that the third individual was found dead inside the prison cell. During the pooja, Rocky, through the tunnel, reaches Garuda and kills him in front of the workers’ army. This leads to the entire gold mine population standing with Rocky.

However, this is just half of the story, and the movie continues with its KGF Chapter 2. The first installment is currently streaming on Prime Video for those eager to watch.
