Kid Cudi Left Befuddled Amid Release Of Shelved Kanye West Collaboration

Kid Cudi was left puzzled upon catching wind of the release of a Kanye West collaboration he thought was shelved until further notice.

On Sunday (Aug. 25), Cudi responded to a tweet praising his guest appearance on a song titled “Gun to My Head,” which was released as a bonus track from Ye and Ty Dolla $ign’s Vultures 2 album. Apparently unaware that the song had been released, Cudi described the collaboration as “tasty” while voicing his hope that Ye would unveil the track “one day.”

Cudi’s seeming cluelessness regarding the song having already been liberated to the public led some fans to inform him that he must have been out of the loop regarding Kanye’s plans for the song.

However, instead of appearing to be upset by his discovery, Cudi seemed more concerned with hearing the finished version of the song, admitting that he’d even forgotten what the song sounds like due to only having heard it once.

“Where???,” he asked, regarding the placement and distirbution of the song. “I wanna hear I forgot what it sounds like,” he added, along with a crying face emoji. “I only heard it once since I recorded it when he played it that one time at the listening event,” Cudi continued, later announcing his plans to have a word with Kanye regarding the song’s release without his knowledge.

“What da hell is he doin???” the Ohio native wrote in reference to Kanye’s move, adding, “Ima talk to him.”

Kid Cudi’s bewilderment towards Kanye’s rollout of “Gun to My Head” is just the latest instance of the rap star’s unpredictability when it comes to his music, as his history of impromptu and revised releases are well documented.

From his legendary G.O.O.D. Music Fridays series during the early ’10s, to revisions of his albums The Life of Pablo, Donda, and Donda 2, West has shown his willingness to both re-release or scrap entire versions of a song, making the circumstances around “Gun to My Head” par for the course when it comes to the rapper.

One reason Cudi may have been unaware of the release of “Gun to My Head” could be its absence, as well as other Vultures 2 songs, from streaming services, as the album, as well as its deluxe tracks, are exclusively available at Kanye’s Yeezy website.
