Killer Mike Drops ‘Detonator’ For ‘Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6’
Rapper Killer Mike has penned a new song, “Detonator,” for the highly anticipated Activision video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Fans attending the Call of Duty: NEXT event in Washington, D.C., got a sneak peek yesterday (Aug. 28) at the video, which is out widely now. The game itself won’t be released until Oct. 25.
Created in tandem with Activision and creative agency Mutiny, the black-and-white clip for “Detonator” finds Killer Mike rapping against the backdrop of Washington, D.C., with his message eventually spreading across the city and its monuments. Fans are encouraged to look for a variety of Call of Duty-related Easter eggs hidden throughout.

“Detonator” was produced by Killer Mike’s longtime Run the Jewels colleague El-P. “When Activision told me the theme of the game and what they were looking for, I knew exactly who to call,” he says. “Plus, I’ve been itching to rap on some El-P beats.”
Last month, Killer Mike addressed his arrest at the 2024 Grammy Awards on the single “HUMBLE ME,” which also appears on his new album, Songs for Sinners and Saints. The artist is winding down a European tour this week backed by the Mighty Midnight Revival choir, and will also play alongside the Killers, Jane’s Addiction, and Todd Rundgren at St. Louis’ Evolution festival on Sept. 28.
