Killer Mike And Travis Scott’s Managers Trade Shots Over Song Lyrics

The managers of rappers Killer Mike and Travis Scott have seemingly gotten embroiled in a back-and-forth regarding rap lyrics perceived as slights amid the former’s recent GRAMMYs sweep.

The drama apparently stems from the song, “Still Talk’n That Sh*t,” on Killer Mike’s latest project, Michael & The Mighty Midnight Revival Songs for Sinners and Saints, which was released on Friday (Aug 2).

On the track, which includes guest appearances from Key Glock and Project Pat, Killer Mike boasts about his newfound claim to fame, demanding the “respect” comparative to previous recipients of the Recording Academy’s coveted gramophone.

“You gonna respect me like a motherfucking Grammy winner/ Like I cooked your favorite rapper like a granny dinner,” the political-minded Atlanta native raps on the track, produced by DJ Paul, Twhy Xclusive, and Cuz Lightyear.

Later on in the verse, he addresses those opposed to his recent streak of success, deeming them “jealous haters” who’ve failed to garner the amount of love and fanfare, despite similar accolades. “I finally get it, all my haters, they was just jealous/ They wrote they papers, gave they speeches, no one gave a fuck/ I walk in a room and smile and applause erupts,” Mike rhymes, lines that apparently rubbed David Stromberg, Travis Scott’s manager, the wrong way.

Killer Mike At GRAMMYS
Killer Mike, winner of the “Best Rap Album” award for “Michael”, “Best Rap Performance” award for “Scientists & Engineers”, and ” Best Rap Song” award for “Scientists & Engineers”, poses in the press room during the 66th GRAMMY Awards at Crypto.com Arena on February 04, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.

Stromberg would seemingly respond to the perceived jabs on Instagram, commenting “@killermike Macklemore and Cardi B tour selling out Chuck E Cheese karaoke nights near u,” lumping Mike in with previous Best Rap Album award winners who seemingly haven’t had sustained success in comparison to his client, Travis Scott.

From there, Killer Mike’s manager, Chioke “Stretch” McCoy, seemingly jumped into the fray, announcing his willingness in “Taking all fades with all managers for all our clients” in a post on X, a sentiment that Killer Mike himself echoed in his own post on the app.
