Kim Kardashian finally admits how she really felt after Kanye West's meltdown on TMZ
On the season finale of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, we finally found out how Kim Kardashian reacted to husband Kanye West’s notorious meltdown on TMZ.
“What? I didn’t know you were going,” Kardashian said to West, over the phone, in the middle of her interview. “You told me you weren’t going, so you said it wasn’t happening, and then you called me and said, ‘I’m here — bye,’ and I tried calling you, and you didn’t have your phone on. You weren’t answering.” Kardashian then told the camera, “Kanye is doing TMZ Live right now.”
This was in May, when Kanye sparked outrage went he went off in the TMZ newsroom, stating that slavery “sounds like a choice.” Kardashian was pretty much silent about it at the time, which led many people on social media to plead with her to “come get your man.”
A few days later, Kardashian traveled to New York for the 2018 Met Gala, where she told her best friend, Jonathan Cheban, that West was “doing good,” even though everyone thought he was having “a breakdown.” She added, “When I saw the clip, I was like, OK. I rushed home. I was hysterically crying. So I go home, he’s totally fine.” Kardashian also explained that when West gets “ramped up, he can’t control what he says, he can’t let it go.
“He loves being ramped up,” she added. “He’s like, ‘I feel powerful when I’m ramped up, like, I don’t want to be, like, so suppressed. Like, yeah, I say crazy s***, but I’ve always said crazy s***. But that’s why I’m Kanye.'”
Kardashian also said that she always knows West’s intentions and what he’s trying to say. “I also know that they’re gonna write a headline, and people are gonna assume that that’s exactly what you meant. … That, as a wife, is really frustrating to see the media take everything and run with it.”
One month after Kanye’s rant, the rapper held a listening party for his latest album, Ye, in Wyoming, and expressed more of his feelings to Charlamagne tha God, who told West, “When people see you running around in the ‘Make America Great Again’ hat, your blackness will be questioned. When you out here saying you love Trump, your blackness will be questioned. Especially a guy that’s directly trying to oppress us, trying to marginalize us.” West responded, “I’m not saying the policies. I’m talking about the fact that this person was not supposed to do that. How many times do you hear somebody say, ‘Everybody hates Trump,’ right? I got love. I’m leading with love. That’s my main message that’s getting clouded.”
At the end of the day, Kardashian said, “I obviously support him, and will always, but he likes to speak for himself and I like to speak for myself. You know, as his wife, I just have to express how I feel and have those private conversations with him and just help him better communicate what he really means to say.”
