Kim Kardashian says North West has a new 'obsession' — and it stars Rob Kardashian's ex-girlfriend

Like plenty of 5-year-olds, North West has a thing for the Disney Channel. Unlike plenty of 5-year-olds, she’s got a random — and slightly awkward — connection to one of the stars of her favorite TV film series.

Mom Kim Kardashian revealed on Instagram Stories Monday night that her eldest daughter has fallen head over heels for the Cheetah Girls, the mid-2000s girl group with their own Disney Channel TV movie trilogy, multiple albums, clothing range, book series, and everything else a little girl could dream of.

Alas, little North has missed the Cheetah Girls heyday by about 15 years — the first Disney Channel film aired in 2003 — and she really missed the good stuff by a decade. From 2007 to 2009, you see, her very own uncle, Rob Kardashian, was dating Cheetah Girl Adrienne Bailon.

Kardashian couldn’t help but laugh about the connection, as you can see from this Instagram caption.

Alas, Bailon and Kardashian broke up in 2009, after he reportedly cheated on her. He went on to have a daughter, Dream, with former fiancée Blac Chyna, while Bailon married Christian music singer Israel Houghton in 2016.

While it’s highly unlikely that North will score a Cheetah Girl as an aunt, Bailon did find her new fan “hysterical.” She shared Kardashian’s posts about the Cheetah Girls on her own Instagram Stories, adding laughing emoji.

Maybe North can at least score a playdate — minus Uncle Rob?
