On Wednesday’s fourth episode of “Survivor 47,” while the Gata tribe was debating the age old question, “Which do we eat first — the chicken or the egg,” the Lavo tribe was trying to figure out the difference between a threat and an ultimatum. Following a second straight immunity challenge loss, tensions remained high at Lavo and Kishan Patel was ready to cut an ally loose in order to stop the chaos. Unfortunately for him, he threw a different ally under the bus in the process and it cost him his own game. Read on for his “Survivor 47” exit interview from the end of the episode.

“I got blindsided, as simple as it can be,” Kishan said bluntly in his opening remarks after leaving the game. He was voted out in an unanimous 4-0 vote by three players after Rome Cooney used his Steal a Vote against Kishan despite telling him that he’d be using it against Solomon “Sol” Yi. The original plan was for Kishan and Rome to keep their alliance in tact with Teeny Chirichillo and Genevieve Mushaluk by using the Steal a Vote on Sol in order to prevent him from using his Shot in the Dark as a last ditch safety. But things changed when Rome told Genevieve that Kishan offered her name to Sol as the decoy vote and she decided that Kishan’s best interests were not aligned with her own best interests.

On his way out, Kishan seems to have understood what may have happened. “Some people may have caught wind of what I was doing which led to my downfall,” he said. “So props to them.” And that’s exactly what happened. Kishan had convinced everyone it was time to flip the vote to keep Sol and vote out Rome, but bothered by him throwing out her name, Genevieve told Rome of that plan and together they reeled in Sol to create a new plan to wrestle decision-making power away from Kishan and pull it back into their own hands. Hurt by the betrayal, Rome was game to make amends with Sol through apologies and carve a new path forward without Kishan.

“I respect the move, I respect what they did,” Kishan concluded, but it was a clear blow to someone who believed he had a strong position in the game. “Had I wished I had made final three? Of course. Had I wished that I’d won? Yes! But I have no regrets, that’s the beauty of the game — you never know what to expect and that’s what makes it fun.”
