A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: “Black Mirror” Director Joins New Game of Thrones Spin-off
The Hollywood Reporter dropped the exclusive that the two-time BAFTA-nominated director behind episodes of Black Mirror, Misfits and Mrs. Davis will helm the Game of Thrones spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
Owen Harris will serve as an executive producer and direct the first three episodes of the new series, which has now been revealed to consist of six episodes.
Harris directed three episodes of Black Mirror across three seasons, including season two's episode "Be Right Back", which landed him a BAFTA nomination. He also returned in season three for the "San Junipero" episode and returned in season five for "Striking Vipers".
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms takes place a century before Game of Thrones and is based on "The Hedge Knight", the 160-page novella from George R.R. Martin.
As per IMDb, the show will star Peter Claffey and follows Dexter Sol Ansell Ser Duncan the Tall and his squire, Egg, who wandered through Westeros while the Targaryen dynasty ruled the Iron Throne and dragons were still remembered.
Martin Parker joins House of the Dragon scribe Ira Parker to pen the screenplay and join Harris as executive producers on the series alongside Hiram Martinez, Ryan J. Condal, Vince Geradia, and George R.R. Martin himself.
An official release date for the show A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is yet to be revealed, but it is expected to air sometime in 2025.
