Per the official logline, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is “set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne, and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory” and “great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”

Owen Harris, who is known for directing Black Mirror‘s “San Junipero” episode as well as episodes of Mrs. DavisMisfits and The Twilight Zone, will helm three installments of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ inaugural season.

The prequel was formally announced in April 2023. The series will be written and executive-produced by Martin and Ira Parker. Ryan Condal, who currently serves as House of the Dragon‘s showrunner, Owen Harris, Sarah Bradshaw and Vince Gerardis also will be EPs. It is slated to premiere in 2025.
