But the year is now 2024, and Hewitt, who got her start on Kids Incorporated and went on to become a '90s icon in hits like Can't Hardly Wait and I Know What You Did Last Summer, is now a 45-year-old grownup with kids of her own. Three, to be exact!

Jennifer Love Hewitt is a mother of three. Although the 9-1-1 actress posts often about her family on Instagram, sharing glimpses into their holiday traditions and the sweet birthday parties she throws for her children, she rarely offers concrete details about her little ones. Until recently, in fact, she never even revealed what they looked like.
That all changed when she shared a first-ever look at her kids on the cover of her upcoming memoir, Inheriting Magic: My Journey Through Grief, Joy, Celebration, and Making Every Day Magical.
“It was the most stressful decision to show our kids or not show them,” Hewitt said of the cover. “But my husband and I felt like we couldn’t really tell our story without knowing who they are and how they have made our lives so full and magical.”
The book, out Dec. 10, 2024, is in part a tribute to Hewitt's late mother, who died of cancer in 2012. "I feel healed enough from losing my mom to finally be able to write about it," Hewitt told E! News.
"I also have seen how creating little bits of magic for my kids and friends makes our memories and everyday lives special," she added. "I wanted to honor my mom and how much being a mom means to me and this felt like the best way."
Hewitt has publicly praised her mother, with whom she shared a close bond, many times before.
"I see you in my kids everyday. I feel you in things I say and smile because I’m more like you than I thought," she wrote on Instagram to mark the 11th anniversary of her mother's death. "I honor you by trying to create magic for my family just like you did for us. I love you deeply. I’m so grateful you were our mom."
Who is the father of Jennifer Love Hewitt's kids?
Hewitt shares all three of her children with actor Brian Hallisay, with whom she starred in The Client List. The two got engaged in June 2013, just days after announcing they were expecting their first child. They tied the knot in a private ceremony that November, less than a week before welcoming their daughter, Autumn James.

Who are Jennifer Love Hewitt's kids?
Hewitt is mom to one daughter and two sons. They are:
Autumn James Hallisay (b. Nov. 26, 2013)
Hewitt and Hallisay welcomed their first child less than a week after they tied the knot, and from the sounds of it, the kid grew up to have her parents' flair for acting.
"My daughter has started walking around the house going, '9-1-1, mhmm. What’s your problem?'" Hewitt told ET in 2018, the year 9-1-1 premiered. "That’s what she says. '9-1-1, what’s your problem?' I’m like, 'Babe, that’s a little too much attitude for an emergency situation.' But she has a fake phone and she walks [around]—it’s really funny." Sounds adorable!

Atticus James Hallisay (b. June 24, 2015)
The Hewitt/Hallisay family expanded less than two years later, upon the arrival of first son Atticus.
“I feel my best when I’m pregnant, which means I probably should have 18 children—it won’t happen—but I do feel good,” Hewitt told American Baby prior to Atticus' birth. She didn't go on to have 16 more kids, but she did at least add one more to her brood many years later ...
Aidan James Hallisay (b. September 2021)
Aidan joined the family in 2021, a year-and-a-half into the COVID-19 pandemic. "We had always been open to a third, but definitely didn't think in the crazy year that the entire world was having that it would necessarily be this moment," Hewitt said.
"I feel like we've been able to so far raise two really special kids who will be great role models," she continued. "This has been such a pleasant, beautiful, surprising gift in this time to be able to get to do all that again with another little human."
Why do Jennifer Love Hewitt's kids all have the middle name James?
The kids' middle name, James, is a tribute to Hallisay's grandfather, and their first names all start with the letter A.
"We thought it would be cute for them to share the same initials and middle name," Hewitt once explained. She wasn't wrong!
