Who is Mickey Guyton?

After signing to Capitol Records Nashville, Guyton's first appearance was an all-star concert at the White House captured by PBS, according to the artist's website.

Guyton is a four-time Grammy Award nominee, and was the first Black female solo artist to earn a Grammy nomination in a country category. In 2021, she performed her song “Black Like Me" during the awards ceremony.

Also in 2021, she became the first Black woman to host the Academy of Country Music Awards. She was nominated for an ACM Award in 2016 and has performed at the event several times.

In 2022, Guyton performed the national anthem at Super Bowl LVI.

Guyton's new album, "House on Fire," drops at the end of next month, she announced on X Monday morning. A new song, called “My Side of the Country," is being released Friday.

A pair of EPs – “Unbreakable” in 2014 and an eponymous release in 2015 – earned the Arlington, Texas, native some recognition with the single “Better Than You Left Me," according to USA Today.

While Guyton has been fighting to carve out a successful career in country music for herself, she wants to use her platform to be a “voice for the voiceless,” especially other Black artists, USA TODAY reported.

What song did Mickey Guyton sing at the DNC?

In a stunning white gown adorned with silver accents, Guyton gave an impassioned performance of the 2021 unifying anthem.

What did Mickey Guyton say about performing at the DNC?

“I love my country so much and to get such an opportunity to bring unity to such an incredible movement is a great honor,” Guyton told CNN Monday.

"It’s so inspiring to see someone who is not only exceptionally smart, but also happens to look like me, running for the highest office in our country,” Guyton told CNN.
