Kraven the Hunter Trailer – Aaron Taylor-Johnson Is Kraven in This Brutal New Look

A brand new trailer for J.C. Chandor's Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson has been released by Sony ahead of the film's December release – and it does not shy away from showing why the film landed itself an R-rating.

Taylor-Johnson is Sergei Kravinoff, a man with one mission: to prove he is the greatest hunter the world has ever seen.

With a story from The Equalizer's Richard Wenk, the official synopsis for Kraven the Hunter from Sony Pictures Entertainment reads:

Kraven the Hunter is the visceral, action-packed origin story of how and why one of Marvel's most iconic villains came to be. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays Kraven, a man whose complex relationship with his ruthless father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), starts him down a path of vengeance with brutal consequences, motivating him to become not only the greatest hunter in the world, but also one of its most feared.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who wrote Iron Man (2008), reunite to pen the screenplay for this dark tale from Sony, in association with Marvel.

Taylor-Johnson and Crowe are joined by fellow cast members Fred Hechinger, Christopher Abbott, Ariana DeBose, Alessandro Nivola, Billy Barratt, Levi Miller, and Murat Seven.

Kraven the Hunter's trailer opens with a vast landscape covered in snow in the dead of night with a truck trudging through before we meet Aaron Taylor-Johnson, who wastes no time leaning into the brutality of the role with a swift action sequence that shows just how ruthless he can be.

There's no reason to question how this film landed its R rating, as the full two-and-a-half-minute preview is packed with Kraven's relentless pursuit and the means he'll go to prove himself.

Kraven the Hunter hits theaters on December 13.
