Kristen Bell Reveals How Her Daughters Really Feel About Frozen — & the NSFW Joke They Slid in ‘Under the Radar’
Kristen Bell has one of the most recognizable voices — from her time narrating Gossip Girl to her turn as Anna in Disney’s Frozen and Frozen 2. But even though we are obsessed with the Nobody Wants This star and her many projects, her daughters are not so impressed. Bell shared some details about her famous animated musical, including exactly what her daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 9, think of it — and the NSFW joke that made it in the final film.
Bell rewatched a scene from the 2013 film, in which her character is singing “For the First Time in Forever,” for Vanity Fair recently. (If you’ve had a child in the last 11 years, you’re probably intimately familiar with this song and many others from the film co-starring Idina Menzel, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff.) At one point, she sings along with her line, “Why have a ballroom with no balls?” joking about its double entendre. (If anyone asks, they were talking about soccer balls.)

“How did we get that joke in there?” Bell asks. “Come on! We slid it under the radar. It almost didn’t make it in. But then we were like, ‘What are you talking about? That’s not what it means. Don’t be a perv.’
She’s so funny, and her interpretation of a Disney princess, which includes messily sleeping with drool dripping down her mouth, continues to endear us today. Bell still loves it too, telling the outlet, “I still get such a sense of joy when I see it ‘cause I’m very proud.”
But her daughters, who she shares with husband Dax Shepard, aren’t fans. “They certainly appreciate it in the fact that they can go to college because of it. But they’re not part of the ‘Frozen’ phenomenon.”
“Because kids are meant to make you feel grounded, and they are meant to reject things that their parents are involved in,” she continued. “Even if they secretly liked it a lot, they would never tell me.” There’s nothing like kids to keep us humble!
One day, her daughters may even give her feedback on another one of her iconic roles: Veronica Mars. “I haven’t seen ‘Veronica Mars’ in probably 17 years,” she told Vanity Fair. “Awaiting the day when my kids are old enough to watch some of the topics that they explore on ‘Veronica Mars.’ ‘Cause I do think that it probably holds up, is my guess. It was a really well-written show.”
And if they don’t like it, well, it’s a good thing Bell has a tough skin. In a previous interview with E! News, Bell shared how her daughters treat her at home. “The amount of insults that they can hurl at me in a very short period of time, it really brings me back down to earth,” she said. “I come home and they will just they’ll pull the rug out from under you so quickly,” she continued, adding that she would call a movie about her life: “My Kids Keep Me Grounded.”
They’ll appreciate her one day!
