‘Wonder Woman 2': Kristen Wiig in Talks to Play Villain

Kristen Wiig is in advanced talks to play the villain Cheetah, one of DC Comics’ oldest supervillains, in the sequel to “Wonder Woman,” an individual with knowledge of the project tells The Wrap.

Cheetah is the name of several enemies of Wonder Woman appearing in DC Comics since 1943, the current version being Barbara Ann Minerva, a superpowered woman with werewolf-like powers who debuted in 1987. According to ThatHashtagShow, who first reported that the character would appear in “Wonder Woman 2”, Wiig will play Minerva in the film.

Plot details have not been announced, but TheWrap has confirmed that, like “Wonder Woman,” “Wonder Woman 2” will be a period piece, this time taking place during the later Cold War in the 1980s.

It’s also notable that WB still has an option for Chris Pine, who played love interest Steve Trevor. Trevor was killed off during the events of “Wonder Woman,” but bringing characters back from the dead isn’t a stretch for a world in which living gods from Greek mythology walk the earth.

Wiig is repped by UTA.

“Wonder Woman 2” is set to hit theaters on Nov. 1, 2019.

Deadline first reported the news.
