Kyle Richards’ Rocky Friendship With Dorit Kemsley Explained
Kyle Richards and Dorit Kemsley have had their fair share of ups and downs throughout the years. For the most part, the two Real Housewives of Beverly Hills stars got along quite well, but in recent times, their relationship has taken a turn. Season 13 highlighted the cracks within their foundation, especially after Dorit expressed her concerns about Kyle’s priorities. At the time, the OG was spending a massive amount of time with her rumored girlfriend, Morgan Wade. But it all took a terrible turn when Kyle suggested that Dorit had exaggerated their friendship, leaving them in limbo.
Season 7 debut
Dorit first appeared on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in 2016. Lisa Vanderpump brought her in, but she hit it off quickly with Kyle. The friendship triangle caused a bit of a riff between Kyle and LVP, who eventually left the series. For a few episodes after, Kyle and Dorit were best of friends, with almost nothing coming between them. But when Teddi Mellencamp joined the show for Season 8, something shifted.
Kyle took Teddi’s side in an argument, leaving Dorit slightly confused. At the time, the Beverly Beach founder told cameras, “I don’t know why one of my best friends would be sticking up for someone that she’s just met rather than sticking up for me. It really hurts me. It just feels so wrong.” This would become a recurring theme.
Puppygate
When Season 9 rolled around, it seemed that Kyle had learned her lesson. Fans learned of Puppygate when little Lucy Lucy Apple Juicy (Dorit’s dog) ended up in a kill shelter. At the time, Dorit had rescued the puppy from Vanderpump Dogs. Kyle stood firm in her allegiance, but it cost her her friendship with Lisa. But for Dorit, this seemed to prove that she had a true friend within the child actor.
But the love was short-lived. In Season 10, the two women stopped speaking to one another after Dorit noted that Kyle would “throw her name” on anything to find popularity. The comment didn’t go down well.
Dorit was robbed
In Season 12, Dorit went through a harrowing experience as the first episode showed a tape of the mother of two being robbed at gunpoint. PK Kemsley was away in London for business, and Dorit was home alone. Kyle and the rest of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills rallied around her in her time of need with Kyle showing a lot of support. It felt like these two were back on track.
The friendship is crumbling
The Season 12 reunion is where it all started to go so wrong. Kyle and Kathy Hilton were having one of their many arguments. But when Dorit tried to give her two cents, she was shut down by Kyle who said, “I don’t want you to interject in this right now.” Fast forward to Season 13, and nothing seems to have gotten better. The friendship is rockier than ever, thanks to Kyle’s newfound closeness with Morgan.
Dorit confided in Erika Jayne, sharing “There’s stuff with Kyle and I that’s going on, and it hurts and bothers me the most. I haven’t heard from her in a couple of months. Then, she sends me a text yesterday, basically trying to silence me. It was so manipulative, it was so calculated.” Kyle’s text was shown on screen and read, “They don’t even know we are going through a hard time, so I don’t see the need to bring it up there. I should have said something sooner, but I honestly haven’t been strong enough. But relationships and YOU are more important to me than RHOBH.”
Whatever is going on, fans will be able to see their friendship unfurl in Season 14. While Dorit is confident they will land on their feet, I wouldn’t be too sure of that outcome. Kyle is known to cut people off for upsetting her status quo. I believe Dorit could be collateral damage if the OG felt targeted.
