Lacey Chabert Just Got One Step Closer to Leaving Hallmark For Its Competitor

Lacey Chabert has been a Hallmark mainstay since 2011, but could she be joining some of the many other Hallmark stars who have left the network for its biggest rival? Keep reading to see if Lacey Chabert is joining Great American Family and what her current status with Hallmark is.

Is Lacey Chabert joining Great American Family?

As of right now, Lacey Chabert, who’s been dubbed the “Queen of Hallmark” by fans, appears to be staying put at Hallmark. One of her movies, however, has been acquired by Great American Pure Flix and will be available to stream in late June 2024. Pure Flix joined Great American Family (also known as GAF) in 2023 following a merger with Sony Pictures Television. It is a subscription-based streaming service that focuses on faith-affirming and uplifting original content.

The streamer obtained the rights to Chabert’s 2014 Hallmark movie Christian Mingle, in which she starred alongside Jonathan Patrick Moore as a marketing executive who uses an online dating website to find Mr. Right. Pure Flix announced the news on Instagram on June 4, writing alongside a still from the movie: “June just got a lot brighter ?? ‘Christian Mingle’, the classic 2014 romcom starring Lacey Chabert and Jonathan Patrick Moore, starts streaming on June 27th!”

Several former Hallmark stars who moved over to GAF commented on the post, including Candace Cameron Bure, Danica McKellar and Jen Lilley. A handful of GAF fans also left enthusiastic comments and expressed their desire for Chabert to join the rival network. “YES Lacey belongs on GAF??,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Welcome home.”

Chabert currently has multiple projects in the works at Hallmark, which seemingly confirms her future at the network. Later this year, she will reunite with Brennan Elliott for the movie Him & Hers. The romance is set to premiere during the network’s annual Fall into Love programming event, and it will mark Chabert and Elliott’s 10th movie together.

The Wedding Veil star will also appear alongside Kristoffer Polaha in The Christmas Quest, which will air as part of Hallmark’s infamous Countdown to Christmas lineup. To top it off, Chabert has a new show coming out with the network, also set to air in late 2024. The series, titled Celebrations with Lacey Chabert, is Hallmark’s first-ever unscripted program, and it will follow Chabert as she throws one-of-a-kind celebrations for kids, families and adults who are making a positive impact in their communities.

“As a lifelong DIY enthusiast, I fell in love with party planning while coming up with creative ways to bring my daughter’s birthday parties to life,” Chabert said in a statement about the project. “I am so excited to lend my love of crafts to create joyous moments for deserving people. This is going to be an epic party as we celebrate real-life heroes, complete with ups and downs that only unscripted television can capture.”

Although Chabert’s year is jam-packed with Hallmark projects, the actress is also taking on a role for Netflix. In May 2024, our sister site Deadline reported that Chabert was tapped to star in a new Christmas film for the streaming giant titled Hot Frosty. She’ll be starring alongside Schitt’s Creek alum Dustin Milligan, Days of our Lives vet Chrishell Stause, The Office‘s Craig Robinson, Brooklyn 99‘s Joe Lo Truglio, Mike & Molly star Katy Mixon and NCIS alum Lauren Holly.

It’s unclear what role Chabert will be playing, but sources told the outlet that securing her involvement was a major feat for Netflix, given her success in the holiday movie space. Chabert has not indicated a permanent move to Netflix after 2024, but the actress is becoming increasingly sought after, which means Hallmark might struggle to keep her.

Nevertheless, Chabert’s commitment to Hallmark has remained steadfast for nearly two decades, and that likely won’t change. “I’m able to be more of who I am here than possibly anywhere else I’ve worked,” she told Vulture during a December 2022 interview. “I started in the theater. I did Les Misérables on Broadway, commercials, All My Children. I love working. I enjoy playing different types of characters, don’t get me wrong. Just look at Mean GirlsGretchen … But with Hallmark, I play characters that are more like who I am in real life than anywhere else. My values are my faith and my family, and I get to portray that.”
