Lady Gaga Puts Gothic Spin on Coquette Aesthetic in Floral Baby-doll Dress at ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ London Photo Call

Lady Gaga put an autumnal spin on coquette dressing at the London photo call for “Joker: Folie à Deux” on Thursday. The actress and singer was accompanied by her costar, Joaquin Phoenix, who stars as the titular troublemaker.

Gaga selected a floral baby-doll dress featuring a crochet Peter Pan collar, pairing it with striped knee-high socks and towering Kiki ankle boots by Marc Jacobs. A pair of black Celine frames completed her look.

The pop star nodded to her character in the film, Harley Quinn, wearing a shaggy red hairdo and a bold scarlet lip. The red and black color scheme of Gaga’s look evoked the comic book character’s original costume.

On Wednesday, Gaga walked the red carpet with her fiancé, Michael Polasnky, at the London premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux.” Her ’80s-inspired Celine ensemble consisted of a cropped jacket with bold shoulders and a gown featuring an asymmetrical mermaid skirt. She added on diamond-encrusted Tiffany & Co. jewels, including a bracelet and matching earrings from the the 2024 Blue Book Collection.

The Grammy winner recently announced that her new album, “Harlequin,” would be inspired by her latest film role. Out Friday, the 13-track LP features covers of “Get Happy,” “Smile” and “The Joker,” among others.

“Folie à Deux” is a sequel to Todd Phillips’ box office hit, “Joker.” Phillips also directs the new musical, which follows the Batman villain’s romance with his eventual accomplice, Harley Quinn. The film had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month.

Coquette styling is proving popular this year, with full skirts, lace, florals and pale hues taking the fashion world by storm. During the spring 2024 season, designers including Simone Rocha, Richard Quinn and Valentino embraced feminine flairs, sending romantic silhouettes down the runway.
