Lady Gaga Revives Viral ‘No Pants’ Trend With Elongated Acne Studios Heels That Are Fresh Off the Runway
More from Footwear News
Lady Gaga is bringing the “no-pants” trend back to Los Angeles — the “Joker: Folie à Deux” star modeled tights and a blazer with a pair of gray leather pumps by Acne Studios while out in the city on Oct. 1.
For her ensemble, Gaga conveyed she’s mastered the art of casual-chic dressing. She wore a pair of sheer black tights underneath a gray shirt emblazoned with “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”; this nod to late night television peeked out beneath an oversized black blazer with notch lapels and long sleeves obscuring her hands. The jacket, fastened with a single button, fell to mid-thigh and it appeared as though she left any additional bottom garment at home.
The “no-pants” trend peaked in 2018 with Ariana Grande, Olivia Culpo and countless more stars embracing the style ubiquitously on the streets. The silhouette is often defined by an oversized top — in the case of Grande, usually a sweatshirt or T-shirt — mimicking the style of a minidress, while a pair of statement shoes makes up for a lack of pants. For the ultimate leg-baring moment, some no-pants styles include a pair of briefs.
Ahead of the curve with her footwear, Gaga wore a pair of heels that only recently debuted on the runway at Acne Studios’ spring 2025 show held during Paris Fashion Week on Sept. 25. In a slate gray color, the pumps featured a smooth leather upper with a circular peep-toe opening in front; they were lifted in the back by a slender stiletto heel. While Gaga wore gray, models debuted the style in a myriad of colors last week; the runway even saw peep-toe boots go by.
This Acne Studios shoe is a toned-down footwear choice for Gaga, who often steps out in bold black platforms like Marc Jacobs’ Kiki ankle boot or Christian Louboutin’s Daffodile pumps.
