“He proposed to me right after my birthday, so my birthday passed and I was like, ‘Oh, I thought he was going to propose,'” she told Kimmel.
However, a surprise was in store for Gaga when they went on a rock climbing trip. “We went on a trip together, and we went rock climbing and we’ve been rock climbing before, which was super fun,” she explained.
When Kimmel asked if she normally rock climbed, Gaga quipped, “I do now. I would do anything for love.”
Gaga further recalled, “We climbed to the top, we looked around, took some photos. And then went back down and we were just walking back to the room, talking. And he actually — it was very Michael — he asked me if he could ask me. He wanted to know if it was OK to propose before he proposed. And I was like, ‘Yes, it’s so OK!'”
After Kimmel questioned why Polansky didn’t propose when they were at the top of the rock, Gaga noted, “I think it was smart. It was safe. He had the ring in his backpack, so it was super cute.”
Despite proposing, Gaga admitted Polansky didn’t get down on his knee but she was OK with that: “He didn’t, but I’m a modern lady. I like what he did.”
As for wedding plans, Gaga shared that she’s considered just keeping it low-key and between them by going to the courthouse.
“We actually talk a lot of about just going to a courthouse just the two of us and just ordering Chinese food,” she said before adding, “But knowing me, also it could become a circus with unicorns.”
Gaga and Polansky were first romantically linked in 2020 according to People magazine. They went public with their relationship during while in Miami for the 2020 Super Bowl. Gaga shared a photo on Instagram at the time of them cuddling on a yacht, writing, “We had so much fun in Miami.”
Polansky runs Facebook co-founder Sean Parker’s various charities and businesses.
