Lainey Wilson documentary special coming to Hulu in May
ABC News Studios and Hulu will continue their documentary-style special responses to country music's mainstream crossover.
Like Jelly Roll's critically acclaimed 2023 documentary, the network has announced the release of "Lainey Wilson: Bell Bottom Country," which debuts on Hulu on May 29.
The documentary-style special is the latest in a partnership between ABC News Studios and award-winning journalist Robin Roberts.
"I look forward to telling stories about talented women who are strong and authentic. Lainey is definitely one of those women, and I can't wait to share her uplifting story with audiences around the world," offers Roberts in a press statement.
Roberts' documentary-style special kicks off an exciting ten-day swing for the 2023 Country Music Association Entertainer of the Year.
Two days after her ABC News Studios documentary-style special premiere, Wilson takes the stage at Nashville's Ascend Amphitheater for a headlining date on her "Country's Cool Again" world tour. Also, a week later, on June 8, 2024, she takes the stage at Nissan Stadium alongside Jelly Roll, Keith Urban and The War and Treaty during CMA Fest.
2024 has already seen Wilson featured in a Super Bowl 58 commercial, hosting a Nashville pop-up bar, kicking off her world tour in Australia and preparing for 40 domestic dates extending through Nov. 2024.
Also, with her new single "Country's Cool Again" and being featured on ABC News Studios and Hulu, the fifth-generation farmer from Northern Louisiana is looking to multiple No. 1 country radio hits, the equivalent of 2 million singles sold, plus multiple Academy of Country Music, Country Music Association, CMT Music and Grammy awards.
"It's such an honor to be a part of this project," said Wilson. "Thank you to Robin and ABC News Studios for helping bring light to my story throughout the past year. I can't wait for everyone to watch."
"I realize that it seems like I'm everywhere right now. Every single show we play gets crazier and crazier these days," Wilson told The Tennessean.
At the 2024 Grammy Awards, Wilson added, "It feels like blood, sweat and tears have led to this moment right here. I'm on cloud nine, but I feel like this is also just the beginning and that's a very exciting feeling."
