Lainey Wilson Makes a Bold Declaration About Taylor Swift
Lainey Wilson had some bold thoughts to share when asked about Taylor Swift during a recent interview.
While the country crooner was in town for TODAY's Citi Concert Series late last month, the broadcast and publication got her to open up in an interview uploaded to their website on July 9, where she dished on how it felt to know that the Eras Tour artist is a fan of her work.
The "Watermelon Moonshine" singer first made the revelation earlier this year, when she told Zach Sang on his show, "Taylor Swift told me she was a fan of me," per Taste of Country.
At the time of their meeting, Wilson, who is two years younger than Swift at 32, told the "Karma" songstress about seeing her perform at CMA Fest's Riverfront Stage in Nashville when she was 14 and Swift was 16.
“Me and my mom and daddy and sister, we watched her performance. And I told her that and she was like, ‘There were like 16 people there,’ and I was like, ‘Well, we were there. We were a few of the 16,’" she recalled.
Naturally, when Today asked her for more details, she was happy to oblige, reiterating the tale of that very first performance she ever saw and declaring, "I’ve always been a fan of hers."
"It is really cool that Taylor Swift is a fan of me," she emphasized. "I’m just a huge fan of what she does."
But even more than her talent, Wilson is a fan of her "work ethic," boldly claiming, "I think she’s just a lady that a lot of folks should look up to."
We're certain her fans agree, too, especially with how easily she splits her focus between entertaining and taking care of them and how generous she is, to boot.
