Land of Women: Burning Questions We Need Answered in a Potential Season 2
Land of Women ended its first season on Wednesday with a surprising cliffhanger that left us begging: Season 2, please!
After Gala (played by Eva Longoria) fled New York City with her mother Julia (Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown‘s Carmen Maura) and daughter Kate (newcomer Victoria Bazúa) to Julia’s hometown in northern Spain, the women realized their life could start anew in the quant wine country. But just as the women solved one problem — a dangerous and criminal husband — more problems arose, with seemingly deadly consequences: Gala and her new love interest, Amat (Star Trek: Picard’s Santiago Cabrera), may have killed a hitman by accident while driving home after the town’s big celebration. (Read finale post mortem.)

While a Season 2 renewal has not been confirmed, after the events in the Season 1 finale, we can’t imagine the story stopping here.
“We are writing right now, the new chapters,” co-creator Ramón Campos revealed to TVLine in June. “We are confident that people will connect with these characters… and we can go back there.”
So in anticipation of a potential Season 2 of the Apple TV+ dramedy, we’re outlining all of the major questions we need addressed in future episodes. From mysterious deaths to paternity conundrums, the show’s first six episodes left plenty to wonder about!
Scroll through our list of questions below, then let us know in the comments any lingering queries you have after the Land of Women Season 1 finale.
Who Is Gala’s Dad?
Perhaps the largest question left unanswered after the Land of Women Season 1 finale is the identity of Gala’s father. In the running we’ve got the town priest (Joan Pera) and Julia’s brother-in-law Andreu (Pep Anton Mu?oz) — yikes! When TVLine asked Campos about the identity of Gala’s father, he confirmed, “We know it, we do know it. You don’t know it.” At least someone knows something!
Kevin… Is he dead?
In the final moments of the finale episode, Amat and Gala seemingly committed vehicular manslaughter by accidentally crashing into a man. The camera panned over the victim, who appeared to be the debt-collecting thug, Kevin (Amaury Nolasco). But is Kevin dead? Whether he’s dead or alive, will this cause a whole other set of problems for the pair? Will Kevin’s partner in thuggery Hank (Jim Kitson) seek retribution? So many questions!
Will Gala and Amat end up together?
Just when things started to fall into place for the lovebirds, everything became more complicated than ever with Amat’s big news and the subsequent car accident. For much of Season 1, it seemed like the pair were destined to be together — sure, there were bumps in the road but their chemistry was intoxicating. (Wine joke!) Longoria told TVLine, however, that the “will-they-won’t-they” dynamic is something they were aiming for. “It’s definitely a slow burn,” she said. “Sometimes once characters get together, it’s like wah-waahh.” So if they do end up together, it won’t be an easy road.
What will happen to Fred?
Nobody got a shorter end of the stick in the Season 1 finale than Fred (Sex Education’s James Purefoy) — well, except maybe Kevin, but who’s keeping track? In the final episode, Gala and Victoria ditched the man on a cruise ship, opting to stay in La Muga instead. He still hasn’t paid back his debts and now he’s stuck all alone at sea. Will he come back looking for his family? Will he go into hiding forever?
What will Amat and Montse do?
In the finale, Montse (Ariadna Gil) shared some big news with Amat: She’s pregnant. The pair had only been casually intertwined, so this left Amat shaken up. He clearly felt unsure about how to resume his relationship with Gala, and we wonder if he will sacrific his own pursuit of love to try to make a family with Montse work.
Plus, does Amat already have a child? What’s his deal?
Amat’s arrival to La Muga was briefly addressed in Episode 3, however the circumstances surrounding his sudden infiltration of the women’s cooperative remain unknown. He showed up out of nowhere, paid for Julia’s home in cash and then lovingly cradled a photograph of a child? Who is this kid? Where is this kid? What is Amat running from?
