Billy Dee Williams is reportedly returning to the big screen as Lando Calrissian in the next āStar Wars ā film.
Williams will portray the beloved space scoundrel in āEpisode IX,ā according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film, directed by J.J. Abrams, is set for release Dec. 20, 2019, with filming expected to start soon.
Lando returned to the big screen last spring in the prequel film āSolo: A Star Wars Story,ā in which the younger version of the character was portrayed by Donald Glover .
Williams hasnāt played Lando on film since 1983ā²s āReturn of the Jedi,ā and the character hadnāt appeared in 2015ā²s āEpisode VIIā or 2017ā²s āEpisode VIII.ā
However, Williams has been active as Lando in other parts of the franchise, lending his voice to video games, such as āStar Wars: Battlefront,ā and animated series, including āStar Wars Rebels.ā
