Late-Night Hosts Pay Tribute to David Bowie

Superfan

On late-night TV Monday, Conan, Fallon, Colbert, and Corden all had something to say about the passing of music legend David Bowie, to varying degrees. Conan O’Brien had a treasure trove of old clips: From past interviews to prerecorded video bits, he highlighted Bowie’s incredible sense of humor. Jimmy Fallon just sent Bowie a farewell email. It sounds strange unless you know that the two used to email each other jokes from time to time; he called the singer “brilliant and sharp and dark and funny.” Stephen Colbert didn’t say much until the end of the show, when house band Jon Batiste and Stay Human backed their musical guest El Vy to play Bowie’s “Let’s Dance.” And on The Late Late Show, Bowie’s fellow Brit James Corden surprisingly said nothing about the legend’s passing, but bandleader Reggie Watts painted a Ziggy Stardust lightning bolt over his eye and sang a single line — “We’re gonna miss you so much, David Bowie” — to his own little tune.
