Lauren Hutton remembers 'bizarre' Weinstein encounter: 'There’s Harvey in a dirty white bathrobe'
Lauren Hutton is the latest celebrity to share a Harvey Weinstein story. The 75-year-old model and actress recounted her "bizarre" experience with the Oscar winner in an interview with People, saying the alleged encounter occurred over a decade ago.
"You heard for ages, ‘Watch out for Harvey,'" Hutton said when asked about her thoughts on the #MeToo movement. "You could spot across the street that he was swine."
Over 80 women have come forward accusing the disgraced producer of sexual assault, harassment and/or misconduct since October 2017. (He has denied all nonconsensual claims.) The allegations date back over 25 years. For Hutton, she said she was called to his Tribeca office for a meeting years ago.
"Harvey wanted to see me about some project," she explained. "I asked if there was a script they wanted me to look at. There wasn’t."
The longtime model continued, "I’m waiting and suddenly a side door opens and there’s Harvey in a dirty white bathrobe. He looked out and then shut the door. I don’t think it occurred to me that he would actually hit on me. It was too far out and first of all, I could take him. I’d whack him. Maybe he understood when he took a look."
"He looked out, sort of stunned," she added. "It was all so bizarre and then it was over. I never saw him again. The bathrobe was enough for me."
Just this week, Weinstein entered a not guilty plea to a new indictment containing charges of sexual assault from 2006 and 2013. He was already awaiting trial on five sexual assault charges from multiple women. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming all sexual acts were consensual. His September trial date has been pushed to Jan. 6.
