Lauryn Hill and Fugees cancel tour three days before kickoff, including Milwaukee concert
The Lauryn Hill and Fugees concert scheduled for Milwaukee this month isn’t going to happen.
In fact, none of the North American tour dates are, with Variety reporting Tuesday that they were all canceled, just three days before the tour was supposed to kick off in Tampa. That includes an American Family Insurance Amphitheater show set for Aug. 30. No explanation was given as of Tuesday night.
This is the third consecutive year that headlining tour dates with Hill and her reunited group the Fugees have been postponed or canceled, Variety reports. Hill has earned a reputation for concert cancellations and very late arrivals to some shows that rivals the ongoing acclaim of her classic 1998 album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” – although she did show up on time for her last Milwaukee gig in 2017 at the Riverside Theater, which ended up on the Journal Sentinel’s best concerts of the year list.
While a reason for the tour cancellation has yet to be given, ticket sales in Milwaukee at least appeared to be going poorly. About two weeks ago, when a Journal Sentinel reporter checked the Ticketmaster page for the concert, roughly 75% or more of the seats in the amphitheater were still available.
Tickets for the canceled concerts will be refunded through the point of purchase.
