Lauryn Hill and Fugees quietly cancel tour days before showtime

It could all be so simple, but Lauryn Hill, Pras and Wyclef Jean would rather make it hard.

Hill and the Fugees canceled part of their tour just days before they were set to hit the stage.

The majority of summer and fall concert dates for the Miseducation Anniversary Tour were removed from Ticketmaster late Tuesday and ticketholders have started receiving notices about refunds from Live Nation, the tour promoter.

The Fugees reunion was an extension of Hill’s tour celebrating her 1998 album “The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill.” The tour was also set to feature Hill’s son YG Marley.

However, the Sept. 4 show in Huntsville, Alabama still appears to be happening.

The European leg of the tour, which is slated to begin in October, doesn’t appear to be canceled at this time.

The tour was set to begin on Aug. 9 in Tampa, Florida, with a stop scheduled at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 17.

So far, there’s been no explanation for the cancellation from the group or Live Nation.

This is the third year that the trio has canceled some if not all of their shows.

The Fugees, who have disbanded multiple times since forming in 1990, announced that they would be reuniting for a tour celebrating the 25th anniversary of “The Score” in 2021 but later canceled it due to issues around the COVID-19 pandemic.

In November 2023, the group was in the middle of their tour when Hill revealed that it would be placed on pause until 2024, according to Variety.

“As many of you may know, I’ve been battling serious vocal strain for the past month,” she stated at that time to the outlet. “I made it through each show by taking prescribed prednisone, but this can be detrimental to the body when taken in large amounts over long periods of time. In order to prevent any long term negative affect on my voice and my body, I need to take time off to allow for real vocal recovery so that I can discontinue the medication completely.”
