Lego introduces a super new 'Star Wars' trooper — here's your exclusive sneak peek
Just as there’s always a master and an apprentice, the rise of a Skywalker must be accompanied by the return of the Sith. When Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premiered its first trailer at Star Wars Celebration in April, director J.J. Abrams drove fans into a frenzy by revealing that Ian McDiarmid would be reprising his role as Darth Sidious, a.k.a. Emperor Palpatine, in the ninth and final installment of the Skywalker Saga. But Palpatine isn’t coming back solo. (Not to be confused with Han.) Before they can confront the Emperor — or his ghost — Resistance fighters Rey, Finn and Poe have to fight off an all-new threat: Sith troopers. Just in time for San Diego Comic-Con, Lego has created brick versions of these red-suited soldiers, and Yahoo Entertainment has your exclusive first look.
The toy giant actually created two different Sith trooper models that will be on display in San Diego ... and one of them you’ll be able to bring home for yourself! That’s the 484-piece Sith trooper bust, which will be sold to select attendees for $45 during the convention.
If you’re interested in having one of these bad boys on your desk — and honestly, who wouldn’t be? — you can enter a “Submission of Interest” form via the San Diego Comic-Con 2019 Exclusives Portal. (See the official website for more information.)
Here’s another Lego model we’d like to submit for your interest. The brick-building wizards spent over 250 hours designing and building a life-sized version of the Sith trooper, which measures in at 6 feet, 2 inches tall and consists of over 34,000 bricks.
Unlike the bust, this one isn’t available to take home, but you can bet it’ll arrive in San Diego camera-ready for portraits and selfies. In either version, this definitely is the awesome new Star Wars trooper you’re looking for.
San Diego Comic-Con International 2019 runs July 18-21. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters on Dec. 20.
